Playing Train Ride in Alishan
There is a reason why Taiwan has become one of the most popular destinations in Asia Pacific. A place where traditions and modernity coexist at a balance, you can find almost anything here. One of Taiwan's popular weekend destinations is Alishan, a vast complex of national park up in the coniferous mountains, which consists of a network of attractions, museums, resort, and shopping complexes.

During the Japanese colonial occupation, Alishan became famous for its rich forests, especially the vast fields of Taiwan Yellow and False Red Cypress. Alishan is also famous for its cherry blossoms, as well as its sunsets and even more beautiful sunrises, when the sun rises slowly above a sea of clouds. The Alishan Forest Railway is one of the only three remaining alpine railways in the world.Located 2000 metres above sea level, the railway zigzags its way through a corridor of coniferous forest, 77 bridges, 49 tunnels, and cherry blossoms. Granted the view is stunning, making the ride such an unforgettable experience. There is only one train ride scheduled daily, which brings visitors to visit the Old Tree Station. Here, the train will stop for a few hours and tourists get the chance to explore thousand-years-old gigantic red cypress trees.

In the morning, the train brings the early birds up the mountain again to watch the famous sunrise. During the day, there are plenty of other attractions to explore and activities to do : be it shopping for the characteristic Alishan tea leaves and coffee powder, visiting museums, soaking in hot springs, watching local dance performances, or just wander around to breathe in the fresh air and take loads of pictures!
